He is flamboyant to the extent that his mere existence in a Punjabi music video can change its fortunes. When it comes to social media numbers, it appears as if his fans are smitten with him so much so that they go to the extent of emulating him and his looks. He is a quintessential superstar who remains in à la mode on all occasions.
His fans must have already guessed who we are talking about here. For others, the individual who is being discussed over here is Parmish Verma. Well, if you think that is a lot of talk about his outward form, things are not just restricted to looks. When it comes to talent, Parmish is an affluent music video director turned actor turned singer. Perhaps, he is a moneymaking commodity in the Punjabi industry.
Just like all his previous projects, his adherents have already gone into raptures about his just released project, ‘Gaal Ni Kadni’. It will go down as Verma’s second single track in a span of just 3 months after ‘Le Chakk Main Aa Gaya’, which was released as a promotional track during the time of the release of his debut movie as an actor, ‘Rocky Mental.’
The song has been penned by Vicky Gill and composed Desi Crew (Goldy Kahlon and Satpal Malhi). Monty has edited the video and the video has been shot by Dimple Bhullar. The concept, direction and screenplay are by Parmish Verma himself. The song was released 4 days back on the official music channel of Speed Records on YouTube and is trending at top spots thus far. Going by an ancient English saying, All that glitters is not gold, this song is beyond a doubt glittery, but, ‘is it gold?’ still remains the question unanswered. Something which you will have to answer for your own self.
Shifting professions is not just a trend, but, a procedural practice in the Punjabi film industry. Actors, directors, lyricist etc., all have it in them to become singers one fine day. Having said that, the questions which arise are that for how long, by what means and at what cost?
People practice, struggle and again practice for years, and years, to achieve their dream of becoming a singer. On the other hand, there are some influential people who get to sing a song which is tailor-made for them. But, where is the limit? At what point should one think of practising and learning and then singing than just singing.
A song should leave an impact on an individual. Full credit to the Gill for coming up with such a concept for people, at times, hurl abuses at each other like anything. But, what about the impact? What about the minuscule details that are related to a song or music? Has Verma been able to come close to them? Again, something that you will have to answer for your own self.
(Tip: Answer it as a genuine music lover and not as a fan of Parmish Verma)
