Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written to Parmdeep Kaur Bhalla, wife of celebrated Punjabi comedian and actor Jaswinder Bhalla, expressing deep sorrow at his passing and describing his death as “an irreparable loss.”
In his condolence message, the Prime Minister hailed Bhalla as an iconic figure in Punjabi cinema, admired across generations for his impeccable comic timing and ability to bring joy to audiences. “In a seemingly effortless way, he brought smiles and happiness into people’s lives,” Modi wrote, adding that the artist’s absence is a significant loss for the world of art.
The Prime Minister also highlighted Bhalla’s academic background, noting that beyond cinema he was deeply passionate about agriculture, a subject he had taught as a professor. Modi praised how the late actor combined wit with knowledge to raise awareness among farmers and youth.
“His kindness, warmth and compassion in caring for and supporting family and friends will always be remembered,” the letter said. Modi added that Bhalla’s values and life lessons would continue to inspire his loved ones, while memories of time spent with him would serve as a source of comfort.
The Prime Minister underlined that Jaswinder Bhalla will be missed not only by the film fraternity but also by students, colleagues, friends, and countless admirers. Offering his heartfelt condolences, he prayed for strength for the bereaved family to cope with the loss.
