Chandigarh: Celebrated comedian and actor Jaswinder Bhalla, one of Punjab’s most beloved entertainers, has passed away unexpectedly, leaving the film and music fraternity in mourning. Known for his legendary wit and his unforgettable portrayal of “Chacha Chatra,” Bhalla’s sudden demise has sent shockwaves across Punjab and among fans worldwide.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was among the first to extend condolences. “The sudden departure of Jaswinder Bhalla ji from this world is heartbreaking. My heart is deeply saddened. May Waheguru grant his soul eternal peace. Uncle Chatra will always stay alive in our hearts,” the CM said in his tribute.

Sharing his grief, popular actor and singer Gippy Grewal described Bhalla as a guiding figure. “I’m still in shock. He was like a father, a mentor, and an inspiration to all of us in the Punjabi film industry. We laughed together, created memories like family, and enjoyed countless moments. His loss is unbearable. Singer Jasbir Jassi kept his farewell simple yet deeply emotional, saying, “Alvida Bhaji… Badi Jaldi Kiti tusi.”
