Chandigarh: Punjab Governor and Administrator of Chandigarh Shri Gulab Chand Kataria today unveiled the official T-shirt, medal and poster of the GB Legends 'Lake to Lake Ultra 2026', marking the formal launch of the upcoming endurance event that has emerged as one of North India’s most distinctive ultra-running races. The unveiling ceremony was held at Punjab Lok Bhavan, Chandigarh, in the presence of the organising team. The event is being held with GB Legends as the Event Partner.
The 2026 edition features 30 km, 55 km and 75 km race categories, catering to runners across different levels of endurance while retaining the demanding character of an ultra-distance event. A special 50-plus age category further reinforces the message that fitness, endurance, and the passion for running transcend age. The race will begin at New Lake, Sector 42, Chandigarh, and will take runners through the picturesque Shivalik foothills before culminating at Tikkar Taal in Morni, offering participants a challenging sporting experience amid one of the region’s most scenic landscapes.
Jatinder Bajwa, Vice President, GB Realty, said, "Scheduled for August 16, 2026, the ultra-running event starts early morning at 4 am and concludes post-lunch. It will bring together nearly 550 runners and endurance enthusiasts from across India. The race is being held to coincide with the Independence Day celebrations, as we are envisioning it as an annual calendar event carrying the message of a Fit, Healthy and United India."
Harpreet Singh Sandhu, State Information Commissioner, Punjab, who was also present at the unveiling ceremony, said, "The event is going to be an iconic one as the association with GB Legends as Event Partner further strengthens the vision of promoting sporting excellence.
Amit Sood, CEO, GB Legends, said, “We are delighted to partner with 'Lake to Lake Ultra 2026'. Ultra-running embodies discipline, resilience and the determination to go beyond one’s limits—values that resonate strongly with our vision at GB Legends. This event provides an excellent platform to promote endurance sports, active lifestyles and a culture of fitness, while giving runners an unforgettable experience in the Shivalik Hills.”
Speaking on the occasion, Amit Chauhan, Chairman, Organising Committee, said, “'Lake to Lake Ultra' is much more than a race; it is a celebration of endurance, determination and the spirit of India. Holding the event around Independence Day makes it even more meaningful."
The 'Lake to Lake Ultra' also seeks to contribute to the growing potential of Chandigarh and the Morni–Shivalik region as destinations for sports, adventure and eco-tourism. The organisers believe that an annual event of this scale can help create greater visibility for the region while encouraging more people to adopt active and healthy lifestyles. The Bib Expo will be held on August 15, 2026, ahead of the main race on August 16.
The organisers expressed their gratitude to Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria for unveiling the official T-shirt, medal and poster and for extending his encouragement and support to the event and its participants.
