Punjabi Influencer and Makeup Artist Mad Sandhu Shot Dead in Amritsar

Amritsar: Punjabi makeup artist and social media personality Mad Sandhu was killed in a shooting incident in Amritsar on Saturday, after two unidentified men allegedly opened fire at him from a motorcycle.

Sandhu, whose name was Madhusudan, was reportedly attacked at around 6 pm. Following the shooting, he collapsed on the roadside with serious injuries. A video showing him lying on the road in a pool of blood has since circulated widely across social media platforms.

According to reports, Sandhu succumbed to his injuries while being taken to hospital.

Police officials reached the location after receiving information about the incident and began gathering evidence as part of the investigation. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Sirivennela said that two unidentified men were allegedly involved in the shooting.

The motive behind the attack and the identities of the suspects had not been established at the time of reporting.

Who was Mad Sandhu?

Mad Sandhu had built a sizeable following through his work as a makeup artist, stylist and digital creator. He regularly featured in podcasts and online discussions, where he spoke about the Punjabi entertainment industry, fashion, beauty, gender identity and changing social attitudes.

His career began in the fashion and entertainment space, where he worked as a stylist and assistant costume designer. His professional work took him to both Punjab and Mumbai, and he was subsequently associated with Punjabi cinema as well.

Sandhu later became particularly recognisable on Instagram, where his reels and videos covered everything from makeup and fashion to luxury lifestyles and popular culture. His candid approach to subjects surrounding gender and LGBTQ+ acceptance also made him a familiar voice in online conversations.

He had openly spoken about being gay and faced homophobic comments and trolling on social media. In interviews and podcasts, Sandhu had discussed his identity and the criticism directed towards him, maintaining that he was comfortable with who he was.

Apart from his social media presence and work in the beauty and fashion space, Sandhu also appeared in Punjabi films, including entries from the Oye Bhole Oye series.

His sudden death has left followers and people associated with the Punjabi entertainment and digital-content community shocked, while the police investigation into the shooting continues.
