“Punjabi is My First Language”: Diljit Dosanjh Speaks on Cultural Pride at Delhi Concert

Diljit Dosanjh Delhi Concert: In a mesmerizing two-day performance in Delhi over the weekend, acclaimed Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh launched his much-anticipated 'Dil-Luminati India Tour 2024'. Marking his return to Indian audiences following a series of successful international shows across North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, Dosanjh captivated thousands of fans at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

As crowds gathered in the central Delhi venue, traffic slowed significantly on nearby roads, with Lodhi Road among the areas affected. Authorities deployed over 3,000 police officers to ensure safety, with many in plain clothes patrolling the stadium and CCTV cameras monitoring the area.

During his performance, Dosanjh reflected on his roots, expressing pride in his Punjabi heritage and first language. “My mother used to speak Punjabi when I was born,” he shared from the stage, “and the first letter I learned was in Punjabi. Our country is rich in languages, and I deeply respect all of them. But because my mother spoke Punjabi, I also speak Punjabi.” His words resonated with the audience, who cheered enthusiastically at this acknowledgment of his cultural pride.

The 'Dil-Luminati Tour', which kicked off in Delhi, brought together thousands of fans eager to celebrate the artist’s music and heritage. The tour is expected to continue across several other major cities, inviting even more fans to experience Dosanjh’s energetic stage presence and commitment to preserving his linguistic roots.
