2016 has been an eventful year for Punjabi Cinema. On one hand we had some Mega Blockbusters which were comedies and on the other hand there were some experimental films which worked wonders at the Box Office. All in all, over 35 films released in 2016 and we pick the best of the lot from those films which created magic at the Box Office as well as in the hearts of the audiences.

Please Note: These films are mentioned in the order of their release dates and not by any Rankings. Also, these films are a personal choice of the author and the whole team of Punjabi Mania agrees with the choice of the author. Readers choices may differ from the choice of the author.

Channo Kamli Yaar Di was the 1st Punjabi release of 2016.

Our Take on Channo Kamli Yaar Di – Channo Kamli Yaar Di is a fine effort done by Pankaj Batra’s team. Its good to see that the 1st film of 2016 is a good one which wasn’t the case in the last 2-3 years. Do watch out for this one in Cinemas near you.

2. Ardaas (Dir. Gippy Grewal)

Ardaas & Love Punjab released on the same day and both received positive response.

Our Take on Ardaas – Ardaas is a well-intentioned film that should win praise and box office rewards for its execution and performances. Do watch it!

3. Love Punjab (Dir. Rajiv Dhingra)

Both Love Punjab & Ardaas has big stars and big names attached to it.
Both Love Punjab & Ardaas has big stars and big names attached to it.

Our Take on Love Punjab – Love Punjab is an entertaining gem. Brilliant performances, superb and new story, power packed dialogues (hell lots of punches), foot tapping music. Isn’t this much package enough a reason to watch this film? If Yes, go watch it then!

4. Bambukat (Dir. Pankaj Batra)

Bambukat was Director Pankaj Batra's 2nd release of the year after Channo.
Bambukat was Director Pankaj Batra’s 2nd release of the year after Channo.

Our Take on Bambukat – Bambukat is a pretty good film to watch and get entertained. Some smaller creative liberties here and there and the film is pretty good. Ammy Virk fans, it’s time to rejoice as your star has delivered a good performance. Highly Recommended!

5. Nikka Zaildar (Dir. Simerjit Singh)

With Nikka Zaildar, Ammy Virk scored his 4th consecutive hit at the Box Office.
With Nikka Zaildar, Ammy Virk scored his 4th consecutive hit at the Box Office.
