Mohali: Punjabi singer and actor Dilpreet Dhillon has been booked by the Mohali Police following allegations of assault, wrongful confinement, criminal intimidation, and the alleged use of a firearm during a dispute at a residential apartment in the city. The case has been registered after a complaint was filed by a Chandigarh-based music company operator.
According to police officials, the FIR was lodged at the Mataur Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with sections of the Arms Act. The complaint alleges that an altercation took place at a flat in Sector 70, Mohali, on July 22, following a disagreement reportedly linked to a proposed music collaboration that did not materialise.
The complainant has alleged that tensions escalated during the argument, claiming he was physically assaulted and later threatened with a pistol. The dispute is said to have stemmed from a failed recording arrangement between the two parties.
Police have initiated an investigation into the allegations and stated that all aspects of the complaint are being examined before any further legal action is taken. Officials indicated that statements from those involved, along with other available evidence, will form part of the inquiry.
Senior police officers confirmed that Dilpreet Dhillon may be questioned if required during the course of the investigation. However, no arrest had been made at the time of filing the case.
Authorities have not commented on the merits of the allegations, emphasising that the investigation remains at an early stage. The singer has also not issued any public statement responding to the accusations so far.
The case has attracted attention within the Punjabi entertainment industry, where Dilpreet Dhillon is known for his work as both a singer and actor. Police said further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
