Punjabi singers R Nait and Gurlej Akhtar, known for their hit track “Tere Yaar Nun Daban Nun Firde Si…”, are facing police summons in connection with a complaint alleging promotion of violence and gun culture in Punjab.

According to officials, both artists have been directed to appear at the Jalandhar Police Commissioner’s office on August 16 at noon. The summons follows a complaint lodged by Arvind Singh, Deputy Convenor of the BJP Punjab Trade Cell, who has sought strict action against the song “315” under relevant legal provisions.

Complaint Highlights Concerns Over Lyrics and Video

In his letter to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, Singh highlighted two key issues:

  1. Songs that glorify firearms and criminal lifestyles should face legal scrutiny.

  2. Such content undermines state regulations, misguides young audiences, and could threaten public order.

The video, running just over three minutes, features model Bhana Sidhu wielding weapons. The lyrics include the line, “Bigdi Mandhir Diya Bhajda Pavandi, 1980 Di Jammi 315,” interpreted as a reference to a .315 rifle. The track has garnered more than 3.9 million views on YouTube, raising concerns about its influence on youth.

Singer Previously Targeted by Extortionists

This is not the first time R Neet has been embroiled in controversy. Around 11 months ago, the singer reportedly received an extortion demand of ?1 crore from alleged associates of gangsters Rinda and Lawrence Bishnoi. The threat, originating from a UK-based number, was reported to the police.

Political Link to Song Usage

Interestingly, R Neet’s music has previously been featured in promotional campaigns by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP leaders. The song’s line, “Tere yar nun daban nun firde si, bar dabda kithe aa,” was used prominently in political messaging.

Police sources confirm that an FIR has been registered and further investigation is underway to determine whether the song violates state laws or contributes to public disorder.
