Ludhiana: Punjabi singer R Nait has found himself at the centre of a fresh controversy after his recently released song 'Reel' drew objections from a Hindu organisation, which has accused the artist of portraying religious figures in an offensive manner.
Shiv Sena Punjab has lodged a formal complaint with the police in Ludhiana, alleging that certain visuals and content in the music video disrespect Hindu sadhus and symbols associated with Sanatan Dharma. The organisation claims the presentation has hurt the sentiments of a large section of the Hindu community.
Representatives of the group submitted a written complaint at Police Station Division No. 3, urging authorities to examine the content of the song and initiate legal proceedings if any violation of law is established.
According to members of the organisation, artistic expression should not come at the cost of religious sensitivities. They have demanded immediate action and called for the removal of any objectionable content from the music video if found offensive.
Police officials have acknowledged receiving the complaint and confirmed that an inquiry has been initiated. As part of the preliminary investigation, authorities are expected to review the video and assess the allegations before deciding on any further legal course of action.
The controversy has generated widespread discussion on social media, with supporters of the singer defending creative freedom while others have backed the demand for action, arguing that religious beliefs must be treated with respect.
As of now, R Nait has not issued any public statement responding to the allegations. The outcome of the police inquiry is expected to determine whether the matter proceeds to legal action or is resolved after further examination of the disputed content.
