Tarsem Jassar’s big-screen debut has been a dream opener at the Box Office. The film collected Rs. 79,58,299/- in East Punjabi region on Day 1. The film was expected to open well but such huge Opening numbers were unheard of for a new comer. I personally expected the film to do well in smaller cities but I was surprised to see Sold Out shows in the afternoon in Chandigarh at PVR Elante, Piccadily 34, PVR North Country, PVR Centra to name a few.

As expected, smaller cities like Ferozepur, Bathinda, Moga, Zira, Doraha, Jalalabad to name a few were running Sold Out shows for Rabb Da Radio besides other bigger cities like Patiala, Amritsar, Jalandhar. We spoke to a Cinema Head from Ludhiana about the opening of the film and he said, “There haven’t been any good Punjabi Films in the last 4-5 months so we expected a slow start on Friday but we were surprised to see the rush on Friday morning and to add to the excitement of the fans, the film also turned out to be good.” When asked about the advances booking, the Cinema Head from Ludhiana said, “We opened the advance lat on Thursday evening online as well as over the counter so it was low but we are running packed shows today.”

If we compare the Opening Day Numbers of some of the other singer turned actors from Punjabi Cinema in recent times, Rabb Da Radio stands out among all of them. We can take into account that the artists made their debut when Punjabi Films were limited but most of them had done way more songs than Tarsem Jassar’s 13 songs before the release of the film.
