Entrepreneur Raj Kundra is set to organise and sponsor a mass marriage ceremony for underprivileged couples in Punjab next month. The event will take place on March 7 at Bhaini Baringa village in Ludhiana district.
According to organisers, the initiative aims to support families who face financial challenges in arranging weddings for their children. Several couples from economically weaker backgrounds are expected to tie the knot during the ceremony, which will be conducted following traditional rituals.
Local volunteers and community members are assisting with preparations, including arrangements for the wedding venue, meals, and essential household items for the newlyweds. The programme is being described as a social welfare effort intended to ease the financial burden on struggling families while promoting community solidarity.
Mass marriage ceremonies are often organised in various parts of the country as a means of extending financial and social support to disadvantaged families, enabling couples to begin their married life with dignity and community backing.
