Actress Rakul Preet Singh has addressed reports about Income Tax searches conducted at locations allegedly connected to her, firmly denying any involvement in financial irregularities.
In a statement, Rakul said the search action reported last week was “not pertaining to” her. She also rejected allegations suggesting that she had any connection with illegal foreign remittances, either in her individual capacity or through any production house.
The actress further clarified that she does not own any benami properties, either in India or overseas. She also denied ever receiving property as a gift.
Rakul spoke about her background while responding to the reports, saying that she belongs to an Armed Forces family and entered the film industry without a godfather. She also highlighted her tax record, stating that she has been paying taxes since the age of 20.
Taking a strong stance against the reports, the actress urged publications that carried what she described as false, malicious and speculative claims to withdraw them.
The Income Tax searches were reportedly conducted on September 28 across around 12 premises in Mumbai. The locations were also said to be linked to filmmaker-producer Vashu Bhagnani and Panorama Studios.
It is important to note that an Income Tax search, by itself, does not establish that an individual has committed any wrongdoing. Rakul's statement is her response to the reports and allegations surrounding the searches.
