Garry Sandhu, a noted Punjabi singer, has come up with his first song of the year, a single track named '100 Percent'. The song was released on the day before yesterday on the official YouTube channel of Lokdhun Punjabi. At the time of writing this article, it has received in excess of 2.5 million views and is trending at #27 on the same platform.
Dr Zeus, a reputed name in the field of music, has directed the music in the song. Standing tall on his worldwide expectations, he has done a remarkable job at the same. The presence of acclaimed Canadian singer and rapper, Tory Lanez, is likely to put the in front of the international audience. Seen rapping in the music video alongside Lanez is Roach Killa.
The duo of Garry Sandhu and Roach Killa is not a new one. Over the years, it has given several hit songs to the Punjabi music industry. Having said that, 100 Percent might not feature in that list, chiefly because of its mediocrity. It isn't that this song is highly ineffectual, but also isn't anything that can be thrown bouquets at. The lyrics, penned down by Garry Sandhu himself, have nothing to get excited about.
100 Percent is directed by Prisma Media & Unit 11. Perhaps, the video is the biggest element of ordinariness in 100 Percent. The video also stars a well liked name in Wamiqa Gabbi. The fact that, despite her presence, the video is not of the required standard throws light on the improper utilisation of resources and lack of creativity on the part of the director.
The thing which has hurt the chances of 100 Percent the most is expectations. As a viewer, after reading so many names of prominence in the cast, watching a below-par song is heart-breaking. Moreover, with the kind of stature which Garry Sandhu has built for himself over the years, audiences are set to be demarcated under the cloud of expecting that extra element of excellence and supremacy.
