'Sarabha' the Punjabi film that delves into the life of the young Indian revolutionary Kartar Singh Sarabha, is all set to hit Indian cinemas on November 9, 2023. This gripping tale of a hero who was executed by the British at the tender age of 19 in Lahore in 1915 has already garnered immense attention and acclaim in Canada and the United States since its worldwide theatrical release on a Friday.

Directed by the Los Angeles-based filmmaker, Kavi Raz, 'Sarabha' is a cinematic milestone as it becomes the first-ever Punjabi film to grace a staggering 55 theaters in the United States, complete with English subtitles for broader accessibility.

The film revolves around Kartar Singh Sarabha, hailing from the Sarabha village, now part of Ludhiana. At the tender age of 15, he embarked on a journey to the United States, ostensibly to pursue higher education at the University of Berkeley. However, fate had different plans for him as he became deeply involved in the Gadar movement, led by Indian expatriates in the US and Canada. The Gadar movement was dedicated to the noble cause of liberating India from the oppressive shackles of British colonial rule.

For Kavi Raz, 'Sarabha' marks his second cinematic venture that delves into the lives of historical Punjabi figures, following his 2017 film, 'The Black Prince' centered around Maharaja Duleep Singh. With 'SARABHA' Raz continues his dedication to bringing such vital chapters of Punjab's history to the silver screen, ensuring that these stories resonate with audiences far and wide.
