From ‘Angrej’ to ‘Nikka Zaildar 2’, within a span of 28 months, Ammy Virk has come a long way in terms of acting in the Punjabi film industry. From making his debut to becoming one of the leading actors in the industry, the journey must have been a dream come true for the 25-year old actor.
However, his actual screen test is likely to be held on this Friday in cinemas near you, in front of you. In what will be his seventh movie, Virk-starrer ‘Sat Shri Akaal England’ is all set to be released this Friday. Upon the release of the trailer, we talked about the prospects of Vikram Pradhan’s movie ending the year 2017 for the Punjabi industry on a high note.
Having said that, paucity of euphoria around the movie might turn those prospects into a far-fetched dream. Preliminary to the release of the movie, promotions have happened at the rate of not a dicky bird. Apart from the trailer, a trio of videos regarding the making of the movie and some dialogue promos have been uploaded in the name of promotions. No on-ground promotions, no interviews and very limited hoardings have it in them to turn the fate of the movie towards the other side of the coin.
Playing the lead role opposite to Virk in the movie is Monica Gill. Apart from this pair, another pair which is likely to entertain the audience is of Karamjit Anmol and Sardar Sohi. The movie is produced by Sagoon Wagh & Nick Bahl under the banner of Kuausmedia Entertainment and Sizzlin Productions. Deep Sood (Mahi Productions) & Bhushan Chopra (Malika Production) are co-producing the movie.
The story of the movie is written by Pradhan, himself. He has teamed up with Jatinder Lall to write the screenplay of the movie. Lall has also penned down the dialogues. The background score and music has been given by Jatinder Shah. In what is a rarity with Shah, the music of the movie sounds very ordinary. Saga Music is the official music label for the songs of Sat Shri Akaal England. Bharat Singh Rawat has edited the movie.
The movie is expected to receive strong competition from Suresh Triveni’s, Vidya Balan starrer, ‘Tumhari Sulu’. Two more Hindi movies which are releasing this week are Ananth Narayan Mahadevan’s ‘Aksar 2’ and Naresh Lalwani’s ‘Dil Jo Na Keh Saka’. Also there is a Hollywood Biggie in the form of Zack Snyder’s ‘Justice League’ which will make it even tougher for Sat Shri Akaal England in A tier cities with its English Version and B tier cities with its Hindi dubbed version.
At this point in time, if there is one thing that can turn the tides for Sat Shri Akaal England, it is none other than the star power of Ammy Virk. Will he be able to attract the crowd on his sheer stature? Will his fans visit the cinemas to watch this movie, which seems lackluster thus far? Only times will tell!
