Mumbai: Global pop icon Shakira has added another concert in Mumbai to her upcoming India tour after overwhelming demand from fans. The newly announced performance will take place on April 11 at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse, just a day after her first scheduled show in the city.
The additional concert comes after tickets for her previously announced performances in Mumbai on April 10 and Delhi on April 15 generated huge excitement among fans. The new show was spotted over the weekend on the District by Zomato platform, although organisers have not yet revealed when ticket sales for the extra date will begin.
Speculation has also intensified about a potential collaboration during the concert. Reports suggest that Punjabi music sensation Diljit Dosanjh might make a special guest appearance and join Shakira on stage. While there has been no official confirmation, the possibility of the two artists performing together has sparked widespread discussion among music fans.
Tickets for the first two shows were released on March 1, with prices starting at Rs 6,000 for general admission. Premium experiences include the HSBC Starstruck Lounge priced at Rs 32,000, the Platinum Lounge at Rs 24,500 and VIP access at Rs 14,500, excluding additional charges.
The concerts are part of the Feeding India Concert initiative, which aims to raise awareness about child nutrition and support the United Nations goal of eliminating hunger worldwide.
Shakira will perform at Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai before heading to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium for the Delhi leg of the tour on April 15. The upcoming shows mark her return to India nearly two decades after her 2007 performance in Mumbai during the Oral Fixation Tour.
In a statement released earlier, the singer expressed her excitement about returning to India, saying performing for Indian fans has always been a special experience and that the initiative goes beyond music by supporting efforts to ensure children have access to proper nutrition.
Presented by HSBC India and organised through the District platform, the concerts are expected to attract thousands of fans eager to watch the Grammy-winning performer live.
The Colombian singer is among the world’s most successful music artists, known for chart-topping hits such as Hips Don't Lie, Whenever, Wherever, and the 2010 World Cup anthem Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), and has sold more than 100 million records globally.
