Sharry Mann on his comeback: Singer-turned-actor talked about donning the actor’s coat after half-a-decade and why this is a good time to work in Punjabi movies.

Sharry Mann, one of the leading singers of the Punjabi music industry, is all set to walk the road of a leading actor, a road he last walked half-a-decade ago. Mann appeared on-screen thrice in cameo roles post Dheeraj Rattan’s Ishq Garaari (2013), but watching him as the lead actor is what his fans were twiddling their thumbs for.

To put a halt to the wait of his fans, the ‘Cute Munda‘ of the Punjabi industry will now be seen as a leading actor in debutant director Sunil Thakur’s Marriage Palace‘, which is scheduled to release on November 23.

The trailer of the movie was released a couple of weeks ago on the official YouTube channel of Lokdhun Punjabi. At the time of writing this article, it has received over 4.5 million views in the same platform. Other than the views, the trailer has enticed numerous comments from viewers, all of whom seem super-excited at the sight of watching Mann performing a lead role.

In a recent interview with Punjabi Mania, Mann broke the silence over why he took a gap from acting. Laying emphasis on working hard over the years on his craft, Mann also cited the other factors which affect the film business.

“The main point to consider is the fact that now is a very good time for Punjabi movies. When I had done my earlier movies, there were less number of screens. Moreover, the audiences weren’t used to take out time for a Punjabi movie,” Mann said.

Expressing delight at the contemporary audiences visiting the cinema halls regularly to watch Punjabi movies, Mann was quoted, “Nowadays, despite so many movies releasing, each of them is getting its audience. There’s some sort of compulsion for the Punjabi audiences to watch a movie on a Friday. The fact that they go with their families is what is the best part.”

Mann was also vocal about how people (other than the actors) from the state showing keen interest in working in the film industry will help in the overall development. “Earlier, we had to hire technicians from Mumbai, but even that trend has changed now as our own people are working as technicians these days. All in all, it is a good time to work in Punjabi movies. I was personally asked by a lot of people regarding when will they see me doing a movie, so here I am,” Mann concluded.

Going by the recent film announcements, Mann will be seen in at least a couple of movies post ‘Marriage Palace’ next year. Here is wishing him loads of luck for his acting ventures in the future!
