On Monday, Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C announced that there will be campaigns to encourage people to vote, and these will be led by Shubman Gill. Earlier, popular Punjabi singer Tarsem Jassar was chosen as the state icon to promote voting awareness in Punjab for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The Chief Electoral Officer is hopeful that Shubman Gill and Tarsem Jassar will motivate first-time voters to participate in the elections. He also urged people of all age groups to join in and emphasized how everyone's contribution is crucial to the democratic process.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Punjab had a 65.96% voter turnout across its 13 seats, indicating active involvement from the public. The Lok Sabha 2024 elections are scheduled for April-May.
