To encourage voter participation in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer has teamed up with renowned cricketer Shubman Gill and popular Punjabi singer and actor Tarsem Jassar. This collaboration aims to ensure that more than 70 percent of eligible voters cast their ballots.

The Chief Electoral Officer, responsible for overseeing electoral processes, has recognized the importance of voter awareness in ensuring a robust democratic process. By enlisting the services of well-known figures like Shubman Gill and Tarsem Jassar, the campaign seeks to reach a wide audience across various demographics, including the youth and Punjabi-speaking communities.

Through various outreach initiatives and promotional activities, the voter awareness campaign aims to educate citizens about the electoral process, their rights as voters, and the significance of participating in elections. By empowering citizens with knowledge and understanding, the campaign hopes to achieve its goal of surpassing a 70 percent voter turnout in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

On Monday, Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C announced that there will be campaigns to encourage people to vote, and these will be led by Shubman Gill. Earlier, popular Punjabi singer Tarsem Jassar was chosen as the state icon to promote voting awareness in Punjab for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The Chief Electoral Officer is hopeful that Shubman Gill and Tarsem Jassar will motivate first-time voters to participate in the elections. He also urged people of all age groups to join in and emphasized how everyone's contribution is crucial to the democratic process.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Punjab had a 65.96% voter turnout across its 13 seats, indicating active involvement from the public. The Lok Sabha 2024 elections are scheduled for April-May.
