Chandigarh: The parents of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala have issued an emotional public statement, expressing gratitude to supporters while also raising questions about the silence of certain individuals who were once closely associated with their son.
Balkaur Singh Sidhu and Charan Kaur began their message with a traditional Sikh greeting and described their present circumstances as a pain that cannot easily be put into words. They said they felt compelled to respond to well-wishers who have been asking why some familiar faces are no longer visible in their fight for justice.
Clarifying recent events outside the SSP office, the family stated that the gathering was not organised in advance. According to them, no invitations were sent out and no prior planning was involved. They said the decision to go there was made spontaneously, driven by what they felt was an urgent need to demand justice.
The couple acknowledged the overwhelming support they have received from admirers in India and abroad. They said the solidarity shown by people across borders has strengthened them during a time of deep grief. “The love we received is no less than a blessing,” the statement conveyed, adding that the list of people to thank is long.
At the same time, they expressed disappointment over what they described as the absence of certain individuals who were once very close to Moosewala and the family. Without naming anyone, they questioned why some who had earlier associated themselves prominently with the singer’s name are now silent.
The statement suggested that times of hardship often reveal true loyalties. While tragedies bring immense loss, they also expose realities about relationships, the family noted. They added that those who stood by them selflessly would always be remembered with respect.
Concluding their message, Moosewala’s parents prayed for the well-being of everyone who has supported them without personal interest. They reaffirmed their resolve to continue seeking justice and said they would not allow their son’s faith and legacy to fade.
