Punjabi Cinema is touching new heights every day. And to make her contribution Poonam Pawar ended up producing Sikander, an unsung saga of university elections. Born in Ludhiana and brought up in California, US, Poonam is an MBA.

Talking exclusively to Punjabi Mania, Poonam who was visibly excited about her movie said, “Sikander is a content driven heavy film whose script is the hero. It’s a fun film with the right mix of entertainment and social message. Besides, this film is important for anyone who is a Punjabi at heart. It also touches upon the topic of drug addiction amongst youth, a problem very rampant in the state.”

When asked about her expectations from the movie, she said that she was confident about the movie. “We have worked hard on the technicalities and the content. I hope the movie will do well. But yes it depends on audience’s acceptance. People who have enjoyed comedy, can they accept other genres as well?”

On her future prospects, Poonam said she has 2-3 scripts lined up, but right now she is waiting for June 21, the day of Sikander’s release.
