The much anticipated and the much talked about film Muklawa, is nearing its release. The film has already created a lot of buzz and excitement amongst the audience. The film that stars the superstars of the Punjabi cinema- Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa in the main lead, will be a period drama set in the 1980s.
The film will be based on the old wedding tradition of punjab- Muklawa. Earlier, the girl was not sent to her husband’s home, right after the wedding. This was mostly done because during that time, girls and boys were married off at a very young age. The custom in which the girl was later sent to her husband’s home was known as ‘Muklawa’. According to the tradition, the married couple could not meet each other or see each other before the girl’s Muklawa was sent to her affinal home. The story of this Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa starrer film will be based on this concept.
The film has been directed by the ace director of the industry- Simerjit Singh. The director, who introduced Ammy Virk in the Punjabi cinema, is all ready to release his fourth movie with the actor. The director has had massive box office successes, won many awards and has worked with nearly all the big names of the Punjabi cinema including Gurdas Mann, Babbu Mann, Amrinder Gill, Gippy Grewal and many more. He is known for directing one of the best Punjabi film of the decade- Angrej, starring Amrinder Gill and Sargun Mehta, which is now known as a ‘classic’ in the Punjabi industry.
Other than Angrej, Simerjit has directed a handful of big films including Daddy Cool Munde Fool, Subedar Joginder Singh, Baaz, Mar Gaye Oye Loko, Nikka Zaildar and Nikka Zaildar 2. He will also be directing the Kulwinder Billa starrer film Parauhneya Nu Dafa karo and the third part of the Ammy Virk starrer Nikka Zaildar Series- Nikka Zaildar 3. Muklawa will be Simerjit’s third film with Sonam Bajwa after Nikka Zaildar and Nikka Zaildar 2.
Simerjit has kickstarted the career of now very big stars including Sargun Mehta, Kulwinder Billa, Ammy Virk, Rajvir Jawanda, Aditi Sharma, Sonia Kaur and Ihana Dhillon by introducing them in this industry with his films. The director is known for his imperturbable, calm, cool and patient nature and is renowned for doing quality films with good content.
Simerjit is all ready and geared up for his next release- Muklawa. Muklawa has been made under the banner of White Hill Studios in association with the Grey Slate Pictures. The movie is being bankrolled by Gunbir Singh Sidhu and Manmord Singh Sidhu and has been written by Raju Verma. The film will be released and distributed by the White Hill Studios worldwide on 24 May this year.
Simerjit, who successfully made two films with the jodi of Sonam and Ammy, is confident that the film will be a treat for their fans and will definitely manage to win hearts of the audience. According to him, it’s a sweet family film, which is filled with love, romance, drama and emotions. The director is eagerly waiting for the release of the film. The fans are also very excited and are looking forward to the movie.
