Punjabi singer Mankirt Aulakh has stepped forward with a significant contribution to support families affected by the devastating floods in Punjab. The artist announced a donation of Rs 5 crore towards relief and rehabilitation efforts in the state.
Heavy rainfall in recent days forced authorities to open the floodgates of a dam, which led to rising water levels in the Beas River and inundated several districts. Large tracts of agricultural land, homes, and infrastructure now remain submerged, leaving thousands displaced.
In his message, Aulakh said his commitment was to stand with the people of Punjab in this hour of crisis. “The people of this land have always given me love and respect. Now, it is my duty to give back in their time of need,” he noted.
Relief operations are underway, with government agencies, NGOs, and volunteers working together to evacuate stranded residents and provide food, medical care, and temporary shelter. Despite these efforts, officials warn that the damage is extensive and long-term rehabilitation will require considerable resources.
Mankirt Aulakh joins a growing list of public figures, community leaders, and organizations contributing funds and resources to ensure flood-affected families receive urgent assistance.
