A live performance by Punjabi singer Sunanda Sharma in Ghaziabad ended abruptly on Friday night after a security lapse led to chaos at the venue.
The incident occurred during a concert at RKGIT College when a youth suddenly stepped up on the stage and approached the singer. Eyewitnesses said the individual attempted to touch the artist and even fell at her feet, triggering panic on stage.
Startled by the sudden intrusion, the singer screamed and immediately rushed backstage. As her microphone was still on, the reaction echoed across the venue, leaving the audience shocked. The situation quickly spiralled, with confusion spreading among attendees.
For nearly two minutes, the youth remained on stage, reportedly gesturing toward the crowd before security personnel intervened. Police officials and bouncers soon reached the spot, restrained the individual, and escorted him away before handing him over to authorities.
According to police sources, the youth is believed to be a student of the same institution and is currently in custody for questioning. An investigation into the breach is underway.
Following the incident, the visibly shaken singer chose not to return to the stage. Despite repeated appeals from the crowd, organisers announced the cancellation of the event midway, leading to disappointment among students who had gathered for the show.
The episode has raised fresh concerns over security arrangements at live performances, especially in college events where large crowds gather.
