Success ratio of TV higher than films: Vatsal Sheth

Popular TV-film actor Vatsal Sheth says television is a more successful medium as compared to movies.

Vatsal made his acting debut with the late ’90s show “Just Mohabbat” as a kid. He later appeared in a couple of films including, “Taarzan: The Wonder Car”, “U Me Aur Hum”, “Jai Ho” among others.

He continued acting in TV serials like “Ek Hasina Thi” and “Rishton Ka Saudagar – Baazigar”.

Talking about the success rate of the small screen, Vatsal tells PTI, “TV has definitely grown a lot over the years. If you compare TV and films, the success ratio of television is higher than films.

“Out of 10-20 films, one becomes a hit, while on TV very rarely shows fail. Today, the medium of TV has changed in terms of story line, presentation, look of the show and the characters. The reach of TV is higher.”

Ask about regressive shows on television and the actor says he has never been part of one.

“All I know is that if a show is running for months or years, it only means audience has liked it. If the TRP of any show is good, it only means it is doing well. The trend of coming up with different kind of shows has started. It’s all about taking the risk and hoping it pays off well. The change is happening.”

Vatsal says if he gets an interesting role in a ‘saas- bahu’ show, he would love to do it.

“The character has to be good. It doesn’t matter if it is a daily soap like saas-bahu show or other show,” he adds.

The actor is excited about his next TV show “Haasil”.

Vatsal plays Kabir Raichand, who is a brat, naughty and an impulsive person in his new stint.

“I am enjoying my stint on television. I am getting good offers in television and people are also liking my work, so why not do TV? This new show is a love triangle with a thriller element. It’s a different show with lots of ups and downs.”

The show will premiere from October 30 on Sony Entertainment Television.
