Sufna Movie Making: A nearly-hour long making of Jagdeep Sidhu's 'Sufna' will go down as a novel step in the Punjabi film industry.

Written and directed by Jagdeep Sidhu, 'Sufna' ended up becoming the first outright successful Punjabi movie of this year. Released alongside Imitiaz Ali's 'Love Aajkal' on the Valentine's Day, Sufna had effortlessly managed to pin down the Hindi movie in Punjab.

Produced by Gurpreet Singh and Navneet Virk under the banner of Panj Paani Films, Sufna witnessed Ammy Virk, Tania, Jagjeet Sandhu, Seema Kaushal, Jasmin Bajwa, Kaka Kautki, Mohini Toor, Lakha Lehri, Balwinder Bullet, Rabab Kaur and Mintu Kapa in titular roles.

After completing its run in the cinema halls, Sufna was made public for audiences on streaming platform Amazon Prime Video last month. In what appeared to be the movie's second release, it received the same love and applauds from the viewers.

Just typing the title of the movie in the search box of social media platform Twitter tells you how much it is continuing to be appreciated by people in not just Punjab but outside of it as well.

Sufna Movie Making

It was during the last week of April that Sidhu had taken to his Instagram handle to announce that the making of the movie would be released in the first week of May. While the release date got delayed by some days, releasing the making in this splendid manner will go down as a novel step in the Punjabi film industry.

The nearly hour-long all-inclusive making of Ammy Virk and Tania's altruistic love story has released on the YouTube channel of Ammy Virk Productions. At the time of writing this article, it has received in excess of two lakh views on the same platform.

A compendious video sees the whole team of Sufna sharing their viewpoint of being part of a critically and commercially acclaimed movie. Mostly led by Sidhu and Virk, the making makes it a point to not miss anyone's name or clip.

Covering anything around Sufna without mentioning the names of B Praak and Jaani is plain disrespect to two of the most in-form artists of our industry. While I had written on similar lines in while reviewing the movie, their presence in the making was both necessary and appeasing.

Pritpal Siyan, who has written and directed the making of Sufna, seems to have taken a leaf out of Sidhu's book as far as crediting almost all the facets of film-making. It is worth mentioning that the closing credits of the movie had 'Team Sufna' written on the screen.

The same has been religiously followed in the making for the costumer designer, action director (who was roped in for a brief sequence), choreographers and (even) the obsession with dogs (in the movie) have been covered in the making. Therefore, it wouldn't be wrong to say that what Jagdeep Sidhu is to Sufna, Pritpal Siyan is to its making!
