The trailer of Panorama Spotlight and Twister Entertainment’s upcoming collaboration Cheer Haran made a hard-hitting impact and piqued the interest of viewers to know more about the real-life events following the Jat Reservation Andolan that inspired the documentary. Amid the anticipation for the release of the documentary, actor Sunil Grover launches its song, ‘Matti Ke Maa Matti Mil Gayi’.
Sung and composed by Sadhu S Tiwari and penned by Rohit Sharma, Matti Ke Maa Matti Mil Gayi’ expresses the emptiness created in the lives of those who survive after the loss of their loved ones.
At the launch of the song, Sunil Grover says, “Kudos to the music team of Cheer Haran for piecing together such a moving song. It is an honor to launch the song and I think the entire essence of the documentary is expressed through it. The song truly outlines the love we have for our family.”
Director Kuldeep Ruhil says, “This song holds a special place in my heart. Its first few lines are inspired by a popular Haryana folk song, Maati Ki Maa Maati Mil Gayi. While filming the documentary when we interviewed the families of the deceased, their words, “Matti mai mila diya beta iss arakshan ne hume”’, haunted me for a long time. So when I sat with my music team, somehow the song came back to me. Our lyricist Rohit Sharma re-wrote the whole song in such a way that it expresses the feelings of every person from those families.. It brings tears to my eyes and incites goosebumps every time I hear it. It is a song that depicts the void caused by loss of lives.”
Presented by Panorama Spotlight and produced by Twister Entertainment, Cheer Haran will hit the cinemas in North India on January 29th. It is a Panorama Studios Distribution release.
