On the occasion of India’s 79th Independence Day, actor Sunny Deol announced the release date of his much-awaited film Border 2 while revealing its first-look motion poster.
The sequel to the iconic 1997 war drama Border is set to hit theatres worldwide on January 22, 2026, just ahead of the Republic Day weekend. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film promises to bring the same patriotic fervor to audiences, paying tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of Indian soldiers.
The motion poster features Sunny Deol in full army gear, holding a bazooka and exuding the grit and determination of a soldier ready for battle. Sharing the poster on social media, Deol wrote, “Hindustan ke liye ladenge… phir ek baar!” (We will fight for India, once again).
The film boasts a strong ensemble cast including Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Medha Rana, Mona Singh, and Sonam Bajwa. Produced by Bhushan Kumar and J.P. Dutta, Border 2 aims to connect with both fans of the original and a new generation of moviegoers.
Calling the project “more than just a film,” producer Bhushan Kumar said, “Border is an emotion for every Indian. With Border 2, we’re carrying forward that legacy to inspire today’s audiences.”
Director Anurag Singh added that announcing the release date on Independence Day was intentional, saying, “This day represents the sacrifices of our soldiers, and our film reflects that same spirit. It’s an honour to bring their stories to the screen.”
Presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series in association with J.P. Films, Border 2 promises high-octane action, heartfelt storytelling, and a salute to India’s armed forces.
