Chandigarh: Canadian-Punjabi artist Sunny Malton has shared an emotional message after meeting the parents of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala for the first time in four-and-a-half years since the singer’s murder. In an Instagram post, Malton spoke about his long-awaited meeting, his concerns regarding the management of Moose Wala’s legacy and his commitment to standing by the singer’s family.
Malton acknowledged that many fans had expected the meeting to happen much earlier. However, he said he trusted the timing and felt that the long wait had only strengthened his love for Moose Wala’s parents.
Shares Feelings About Sidhu Moose Wala’s Murder
Reflecting on the period since Moose Wala’s killing, Malton said he had been carrying several thoughts and emotions that he finally got the opportunity to share with the singer’s parents.
He described the experience as significant, acknowledging that Moose Wala’s parents continue to endure a level of grief that others cannot fully understand.
Malton also spoke about the personal disappointment of losing not only his close associate but also people he had considered genuine following the singer’s murder. He expressed his belief that he had remained sincere in his relationship with Moose Wala and continued to stand by him even in his absence.
Raises Questions About Management of Singer’s Legacy
A key part of Malton’s post addressed concerns raised by fans over how Moose Wala’s affairs and legacy are being managed.
Malton said he shared some of these concerns and had discussed them with the singer’s father, Balkaur Singh, whom he respectfully referred to as “Bapu Ji”. According to Malton, he made his position clear during their conversation, and the singer’s father was aware of how strongly he felt about the matter.
However, Malton stressed that decisions concerning the singer’s legacy were not his to make. He also acknowledged the immense personal loss suffered by Moose Wala’s parents and said he would not pressure them into taking any action that made them uncomfortable.
Appeals to Fans to Give the Family Time
Malton said Balkaur Singh had assured him that things would improve with time and urged fans to remain patient rather than demand immediate changes.
He appealed to supporters to consider the pain experienced by the singer’s parents before judging how they choose to handle matters connected to their son’s legacy.
According to Malton, the family deserves understanding and the freedom to make decisions at its own pace, without facing additional pressure during an already difficult period.
Reaffirms Support for Sidhu’s Parents
Addressing Moose Wala directly in his post, Malton reaffirmed his commitment to protecting the singer’s legacy and supporting his family.
He maintained that Moose Wala’s parents should have the final say in decisions concerning their son’s legacy and pledged to stand behind their choices, just as he had stood by the singer during his lifetime.
The post has brought renewed attention to the emotional bonds surrounding Moose Wala’s legacy, as well as the concerns some fans have expressed about its management. Malton’s message combined a personal account of his reunion with the singer’s family with a call for patience, respect and support for his parents.
