BJP leader and Bigg Boss 18 contestant Tajinder Bagga has strongly criticized filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan over her recent comments about Holi on Celebrity MasterChef. Farah sparked controversy by stating that Holi is the "favorite festival of Chhapris", a slang term often used to describe rowdy or flashy young men.
Reacting to her remarks, Bagga took to social media to post a video demanding an apology from Farah Khan.
"Farah Khan's statement that Holi is a festival of 'Chhapris' is an insult to Indian culture and traditions. Targeting our festivals has become a habit for certain people. If anything, I believe Farah Khan herself is the biggest 'Chhapri'. Holi has been celebrated for centuries with joy and devotion, and such remarks only serve to defame it," Bagga said in his video.
He further added, "Farah Khan must apologize to the people of India for making such a statement about Holi."
Along with the video, Bagga wrote, "Shameful statement by @TheFarahKhan. Targeting Indian culture and festivals has become a soft target for people like her."
Farah Khan’s Holi Remark Sparks Controversy
Following the viral clip of Farah’s statement, social media was divided in its response. While many users slammed her for generalizing and demanded an apology, others called for action to be taken against her.
On the other hand, some defended Farah, arguing that her remark stemmed from real incidents of intoxicated men misbehaving during Holi, a concern that has been widely reported over the years.
During an episode of Celebrity MasterChef, where she serves as a judge alongside chefs Ranveer Brar and Vikas Khanna, Farah had remarked, "Chhapri logo ka favourite festival hota hai Holi."
As of now, Farah Khan has not responded to the controversy.
