There is no hiding to the fact that the Punjabi entertainment industry is flourishing at a very rapid pace across the whole world. After Punjabi music, Punjabi films are also becoming equally popular and have started releasing extensively across the globe.
People from Bollywood and other film industries are showing increasing interest in the Punjabi film industry. Despite the increasing interest, there is a lack of contact persons in the Punjabi industry, especially for people of other industries.
To fill this void, Sapan Manchanda, who is the head of ‘Fivewood Media’, has come up with a directory that not only includes the contact details of more than 7000 people related to the industry, but also contains their pictures and contains all the information related to the industry and regarding all the films that have released till date.
This directory has been launched by the renowned Punjabi singer and composer Satinder Sartaj on 11/08/2018. Many people related to Punjabi cinema were present on the occasion. Some renowned names among the guests were popular video director Sandeep Sharma, film writer and theatre artist Prof. Pali Bhupinder, film director Navtej Sandhu, Munish ji from Hotel Ramada, Raman Gupta from Gupta Builders and other members of the directory team.
Sartaj dedicated the directory to the people and said that information is an essential element for any industry to grow. He mentioned that this directory would not only be beneficial in making the work easier in the Punjabi industry, but would also help in reducing the struggle of new artists. This directory would help artists to make better contacts with each other.
Founder Manchanda was quoted, “This is the fourth edition of the directory and has been released after seven months of hard work by the team. The directory contains 396 pages and had been divided into 46 categories such as actors, directors, producers, film writers, singers, playback singers, composers, theatre artists, television artists, journalists, dress designers, photographers, cameramen and many more.
“The directory also contains a list of all the movies which have released since 1935. It also contains lists of movies, actors and directors who have won a national award or any other domestic award related to the Punjabi industry. It also contains important information related to Punjabi cinema and music which has been printed in both English and Punjabi.”
The directory is going to be a boon for people from Bollywood looking to contact Punjabi artists. It would make the work of production companies very easy and would also help new artists to reach the production houses. Following the release of the directory, Manchanda shall soon release a book too, which has been written in Punjabi and is based on the concept of filming. The book has been written in such a way that it will also cater to the students of cinema and the art of filming.
