There have been many controversies of a concept being copied by more than one filmmaker. Recently there were many clashes between the makers of Ujda Chaman and Bala over the same storyline. Now famous Bollywood actress and producer of the Punjabi films, Priti Sapru, has shown disappointment over the concept of the forthcoming show, ‘Mere Dad Ki Dulhan’.
Priti Sapru has filed a case against the producers of the show, Tony and Deeya Singh in the Bombay High Court. The concept of the show is similar to that of Sapru’s forthcoming film ‘Teri Meri Gal Ban Gayi’.
She says, “I have invested a lot of money in the making of the film which is 90% complete. It is scheduled to release in 2020 and if a show with a similar storyline is aired before the film it will seem that my film is copied.”
Upset Priti Sapru further said, “If the producers of the show have some proof of registering the concept prior to us, we’d like to see it. I had already got the concept registered back in 2017.”
Priti Sapru had already registered the script of the film with Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association and The Screenwriters Association in 2017. Priti and her team are really looking forward to some relief before the show releases.
‘Teri Meri Gal Ban Gayi’ will star Akhil and Rubina Bajwa as the lead actors. Directed by Priti Sapru, Upvan Sudarshan being associate director, the film will be narrating the story of how a daughter gets her father remarried. With this film, Akhil will be steeping in the field of acting.
Priti started her career in the entertainment industry at the age of 13 years. She became the leading heroines of films like Mehndi Shagna Di and Pratigya and also became the first woman director of the Punjabi industry with the Punjabi Film, Qurbani Jatt Di.
