Punjabi entertainment industry's first award show "Punjabi Entertainment Festival and Award 2023-PEFA" was recently held at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh. Celebrated with beautiful memories, the evening was attended by renowned artists of the Punjabi industry and many prominent personalities of the city. The award night was inaugurated by Punjab Culture and Tourism Minister Anmol Gagan Mann by lighting the candle.

Founder of PEFA Sapan Manchanda and Co-Founder Niharka said that the purpose of this award show is to honour the personalities of Punjabi film and music industry, who have done notable work in their fields and made the whole industry proud. These awards are a tribute to the legends who have set a beautiful example for the artists of today’s time. PEFA Awards aim to honour such legendary artists, by keeping their names alive.

On the occasion of this award show, Punjabi singer Satinder Sartaaj and music emperor Charanjit Singh Ahuja were given Punjab Ratna Award. Other than that, Jazzy B and Maninder Buttar were given Global Star Award, whereas Yograj Singh, Sardar Sohi and Sunita Dhir were given Prithvi Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award. Punjabi actress Sargun Mehta was given Daljit Kaur Memorial Award, and Gurpreet Ghuggi and Vijay Tandon were honoured with Pride of Punjabi Cinema Award. Along with all these awards, Sarabjit Cheema and Shipra Goyal were honoured with the Pride of Punjabi Music Award.

Other awards included Gopal Das Sehgal Memorial Award to comedian Jaswinder Bhalla; Balraj Sahni Memorial Award to Binnu Dhillon and Dev Kharoud; Gurmeet Bawa Memorial Award to singer Mannat Noor; Jaswant Bhanwara Memorial Award to Gurmeet Singh and AV Sarha; and Gurkeertan Memorial Award to Ashish Duggal and Prince Kanwaljit Singh. Jasmine Bajwa was given the Promising Award, whereas the Youth Icon Award was presented to Kartar Cheema and Hardeep Grewal.

A spectrum of talented artists were honoured with presentation of various category awards. Other awards that were presented at this esteemed award show were: Bhai Manna Singh Memorial Award to Anita Shabdish; Varinder Memorial Award to director Simarjit Singh; Nand Lal Noorpuri Award to Happy Raikoti; Mulkraj Bhakri Award to Amberdeep Singh; Kuldeep Manak Memorial Award to Kulwinder Billa; and Sardool Sikandar Memorial Award to Khan Saab. Raj Shokarwas was presented with Limelight Star Award whereas Amar Noori was honoured with Shaan-e-Punjab Award.

On this prestigious occasion, film distributor and producer Munish Sahni, celebrated actor Mukesh Rishi, renowned artist Satinder Satti, singer Sargi Maan, and music producer Dinesh Aulakh were honoured with a special appreciation award.

In this esteemed award show, the new edition of the Punjabi Industry Data-Information and Telephone Directory prepared by Sapan Manchanda for the year 2023-24 was also released. Singer and actor Gippy Grewal, who was present as a special guest on this occasion, said that such award ceremonies were really needed by the Punjabi industry as such awards boost the spirits of artists.

The show was graced with live performances by various talented artists. Punjabi artists Sarabjit Cheema, Vicky, Bennett Dosanjh, Raman Gill, Sangram Hanjara, Sargi Mann and many others entertained the audience with energetic performances. The occasion was graced by the presence of many big names from the industry and many big stars. The show was out and out a hit and was enjoyed by all present.
