Punjabi film The Mastermind Jinda-Sukha is in troubled waters. The film which was supposed to release on September 11, might not release that day. The film glorifies the assassins of former Army Chief Gen A S Vaidya and also the Khalistan cause.
The film was given a certificate for public screening in July. But after receiving fresh inputs from security agencies about the unrest that the flagrant content of the film can instigate, the Central Board of Film Certification is reconsidering its decision of giving a go ahead to the film.
The director of the film Sukhjinder Singh is in Mumbai for negotiations with CBFC. A verdict by the censor is expected on the afternoon of September 9, 2015.
In case the CBFC invokes the certificate given to the film, the makers won’t be able to screen it in cinemas around India. Earlier Punjabi film Kaum De Heere was declined a certificate by the censor for glorifying the assassins of former PM Indira Gandhi.
