An overwhelming wave of grief swept through the town of Jagraon on Friday as thousands of mourners gathered to attend the bhog ceremony of beloved Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda, who tragically lost his life in a recent road accident in Himachal Pradesh.
The ceremony, held in Jawanda’s native village, drew an extraordinary turnout, including political leaders, artists, public figures, and countless fans from across Punjab and beyond. The sheer volume of people who came to pay homage reflected the deep mark the young singer had left on the hearts of his admirers.
Jawanda's untimely demise has sent shockwaves across the Punjabi music industry, where he was celebrated not only for his vocal talent but also for his humble nature and strong connection to his cultural roots.
Among those in attendance were several high-profile political figures, including Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahni, Punjab Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, SR Kler, Amrik Aliwal, Lakha Sidhana, Mandeep Sidhu (brother of late actor and activist Deep Sidhu), and social worker Anmol Kwatra.
The Punjabi entertainment industry turned out in full force to honor Jawanda’s memory. Esteemed artists such as Gurdas Maan, Harbhajan Mann, Kulwinder Billa, Kanwar Grewal, Ammy Virk, Ranjit Bawa, Gagan Kokri, Jasbir Jassi, Satwinder Bitti, Pammi Bai, Jass Bajwa, Balkar Ankhila, and others stood in solidarity with the bereaved family.
Several celebrities were seen personally assisting with crowd management and comforting relatives during the emotionally charged gathering. Their active participation underscored the sense of loss that extends beyond the stage and studio, touching personal bonds forged over years of collaboration and camaraderie.
Jawanda, known for hits like "Kali Jotta" and "Shaandaar", was seen as a rising star in Punjabi music. His passing has left a void that fans and fellow artists say will be hard to fill.
As chants of prayer echoed through the village and fans lit candles in silent tribute, the message was clear — Rajvir Jawanda may have left this world, but his voice and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of millions.
