Bollywood star Ranveer Singh has become the latest high-profile figure to receive a security scare after Mumbai Police registered a case over an alleged extortion threat targeting the actor.
According to officials, a voice message demanding ?20 crore was sent to Singh’s manager earlier this week. In the recording, the caller reportedly identified himself as “Harry Boxer” and issued threats if the demand was not fulfilled.
The Mumbai Crime Branch has since issued a Look Out Circular against Harichandra alias Harry Boxer, who is believed to be associated with the network of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Authorities say the move is aimed at preventing the suspect from fleeing the country while the investigation continues.
As part of the probe, the audio clip has been forwarded to agencies in Punjab and Haryana for forensic examination to verify its source and authenticity. Law enforcement teams are coordinating across states to trace the caller and determine whether the threat originated domestically or from abroad.
While Singh has not made a public statement on the matter, sources say security arrangements around the actor have been reassessed as a precaution. The development has sparked concern within the film industry, which has in recent years witnessed similar extortion attempts involving prominent personalities.
Police officials have assured that the matter is being treated with urgency. Further updates are expected once forensic findings and location tracking reports are received.
