“It has been a difficult ride for us. We are struggling to release the movie from October last year, and now when we were this close, we are refrained again.” This was how Mandeep Benipal the director of Saddda Haq reacted to the news of Sadda Haq’s ban in the state.

Mandeep was busy hosting the Premiere of the movie in Chandigarh last night when the news of movie’s ban broke. While he was accepting regards of the invitees for a great movie, he learnt that the movie is banned in Punjab. “I was shocked! I couldn’t believe and thought it was all rumors.” Mandeep told Punjabi Mania.

“It is unfortunate that the movie is banned in Punjab. It’s a loss for Punjabi Audience,” he added. Mandeep is working with the producers to chalk out future strategy for the movie which includes meeting the deputy Chief Minister of the state.

Asked if the producers will hold the release in other states as well he said, “We have no such intentions to hold the release of the movie in other states or overseas. There the movie will release today only.”
