Mumbai: The resolution of the dispute between actor Ranveer Singh and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (WICE) took a positive turn, with CINTAA representative Upasana Singh praising the actor's contribution to the Hindi film industry during a press conference in Mumbai.
Addressing the media after WICE officially withdrew its non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh, Upasana Singh highlighted the economic and employment benefits generated by the actor's films. She noted that large-scale productions featuring Ranveer had provided work to thousands of technicians, artists, and crew members at a time when the industry was striving to recover from challenging circumstances.
Referring to the actor's recent successes, Upasana said films backed by major stars play a crucial role in sustaining the livelihoods of workers across the film ecosystem. She emphasized that such projects not only perform strongly at the box office but also create opportunities for countless behind-the-scenes professionals.
The press conference was attended by WICE President BN Tiwari, filmmaker Ashoke Pandit and other industry representatives. While announcing the settlement, they stressed that the matter had been resolved through discussions and mutual understanding.
“There is neither a winner nor a loser in this,” the leaders said, underlining the importance of maintaining unity within the entertainment industry.
The dispute, linked to the Don 3 controversy, was settled following legal correspondence from Ranveer Singh and subsequent mediation efforts. With the issue now resolved, industry bodies expressed hope that all stakeholders would continue working together to strengthen the film sector.
The development has been viewed as a constructive step, with Upasana Singh's remarks drawing attention to the wider role major film projects play in supporting employment and driving growth across Bollywood.
