In a heart-wrenching turn of events, renowned Punjabi actor and professional bodybuilder Varinder Singh Ghuman passed away at the age of 42 on Thursday, just one day after mourning the death of Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda on social media.
Varinder, who had earlier shared a heartfelt tribute to Rajvir on Instagram, died following a sudden heart attack while receiving treatment for shoulder pain at a private hospital in Amritsar, according to his manager Yadvinder Singh. His nephew, Amanjot Singh Ghuman, confirmed the news to reporters in Jalandhar.
A Chilling Coincidence: His Final Post Was a Tribute
Fans were left stunned to discover that Varinder’s last Instagram post was dedicated to Rajvir Jawanda, who died on Wednesday from injuries sustained in a recent motorcycle accident.
In the post, Varinder had written in Punjabi: "RIP Brother ?? This is a big loss to Punjab and the Punjabi music industry. May Waheguru bless the family."
Within hours of his own death, the comment section under the post transformed into a space of shared grief, disbelief, and tribute.
"He wrote about Rajvir’s death yesterday, and today he’s no more. Life is truly unpredictable,” one shocked fan commented.
Another wrote, “Shocking and heartbreaking — he posted condolences for someone else and became the subject of condolences himself.”
A Career of Strength and Stardom
Varinder Singh Ghuman was celebrated not only for his muscular physique but also for his crossover success in both Bollywood and Punjabi cinema. He appeared in major productions including Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 (2023), Roar: Tigers of the Sundarbans (2014), and Marjaavaan (2019). In the Punjabi film industry, he was noted for his role in Kabaddi Once Again (2012).
Off-screen, Ghuman was a decorated athlete. He won the Mr. India title in 2009 and earned second place in the Mr. Asia bodybuilding competition, becoming one of the first Sikh bodybuilders to achieve international recognition.
Fans and Industry in Mourning
Tributes poured in across social media as fans and peers alike struggled to process the loss of two Punjabi personalities in as many days. Many expressed shock at the eerie timing of Varinder’s death, especially in light of his post about Rajvir. “He had no idea that while mourning one friend, his own time was near,” wrote one commenter.
“Two stars gone too soon. Punjab has lost two sons in two days,” said another.
The Final Goodbye
Varinder Singh Ghuman’s untimely death has left a deep void in the Punjabi entertainment and fitness communities. As condolences continue to flood in, many are reflecting on the fragile nature of life — a theme unintentionally underscored by the actor’s final words for a fellow artist.
A cremation ceremony is expected to take place in his hometown in the coming days. Fans and well-wishers are expected to gather in large numbers to bid farewell to the man who inspired many with his strength, both physical and personal.
