At the launch event of the anthem “Ghar Kab Aaoge” from the film Border 2, actor Varun Dhawan spoke about his personal connection to the original Border (1997) and reflected on the importance of films portraying national courage and military readiness.

Addressing the audience, Varun recounted how the first Border film had a profound impact on his childhood, shaping his admiration for the armed forces. “Just as Sunny Deol once spoke about witnessing reality and wanting to make a film on the armed forces, Border inspired me in a similar way,” he said. He added that the film instilled in him a desire to portray a character linked to the nation’s military, and he admitted he never imagined he would be part of its sequel.

During his speech, Varun pointed out the prominent display of Operation Sindoor posters at the venue. He emphasised the importance of such narratives for young audiences. “Our country values peace, but it is equally important to show the youth that we are fully capable of responding to threats,” he said. He further stressed that films like Border serve as reminders of the courage and resolve required to defend the nation when its territory is challenged.

Varun also recalled paying tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during Operation Sindoor last year. Sharing an Instagram post, he had honoured personnel including Jawan Murali Naik, BSF SI Md Imteyaz, Gunner Dinesh Sharma, Sepoy Sachin Yadav, Airman Kamal Kamboj, Sepoy Amit Chaudhary, IAF Sergeant Surendra Mogra, and Sepoy Suraj Yadav, writing: “We are here only because of you.”

About Operation Sindoor

Operation Sindoor, launched in 2025, was a swift military response following a terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, that claimed 26 civilian lives. The operation targeted terrorist infrastructure linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir through coordinated missile and drone strikes. Indian authorities emphasised that the strikes avoided any ground incursion and focused solely on militant installations, concluding within days with international mediation.
