Vetaran Punjabi Actor And Director- Sukhjinder Shera Passes Away

It is a moment of grief for the entire Punjabi industry as one of the most loved vetaran artist of Punjabi cinema- Sukhjinder Shera recently passed away. Sukhjinder Shera started his career with writing and later gained stardom through his acting and direction in Punjabi films.

Shera made his debut in 1987 with legendary actor Veerendra’s film- Yaari Jatt Di. The film became a blockbuster hit and also won the Silver Jubilee Award. This film marked Sukhjinder Shera’s grand entry in Punjabi cinema. Other than acting, Sukhjinder also penned the dialogues of the film. He got his name ‘Shera’ after his character in the movie. After gaining mass popularity through this film Sukhjinder added ‘Shera’ to his real name and started getting known as Sukhjinder Shera.

Sukhjinder Shera is one of the most celebrated actor, director, writer and producer of his time. He worked in many films along with his contemporaries Raj Babbar, Guggu Gill and Yograj Singh. He had his own homespun style of acting, which was unique and created his own identity in the industry.

Sukhjinder worked in many big and hit films including Jorr Jatt Daa, Ucha Pind, Moh Panjab Da, Jagira, Jatt Te Zameen, Sir Dhad Di Baaji and many more. He made his directorial debut in 1991 with his home production film- Jorr Jatt Daa. Shera was the showstopper of 1980s and 1990s. Sukhjinder Shera last worked in the 2018 Dev Kharoud starrer film Yaar Belly. 

Sukhjinder Shera left for his heavenly abode on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. He passed away due to severe pneumonia in Uganda, South Africa. The entire Punjabi industry is bereaved and is saddened by this news. Many artists of the Punjabi industry, including Dev Kharoud and Karamjit Anmol took to Instagram to share their condolences. The entire industry is grieved on this big loss in the Punjabi film fraternity.
