Mumbai: Actor Vidyut Jammwal has spoken out following the shooting incident involving Bollywood star Tiger Shroff, questioning why the actor’s supporters did not intervene when the attack took place. His message has also received attention from Tiger’s mother, Ayesha Shroff, who shared the video on her Instagram account.
In the video, Vidyut directly addressed Tiger, praising his courage before turning his attention to the actor’s fan base. He questioned the meaning of being a devoted supporter if people were unwilling to step forward when someone faced danger.
Vidyut pointed out that fans regularly gather to cheer for their favourite celebrities, including during football matches, but challenged them to consider what responsibility comes with that admiration.
He suggested that someone present during the incident should have attempted to stop the attackers, raising questions about the tendency of bystanders to watch rather than act when violence occurs.
Vidyut urges Mumbai Police to prevent repeat of attack
The actor also directed a message to the Mumbai Police, stressing that providing protection to Tiger was important but preventing similar incidents in the future was equally necessary.
In his accompanying caption, Vidyut broadened the discussion beyond the shooting, asking why people often remain passive when they witness another person being harassed or assaulted.
He acknowledged that speaking up is not always easy, but argued that society needs more people willing to support those in distress rather than simply observe what is happening.
His post centred on the importance of courage, public responsibility and standing up for others in difficult situations.
Ayesha Shroff’s decision to share the video brought further attention to Vidyut’s appeal, as the incident involving her son continues to draw concern.
What happened during the shooting?
According to the account of the incident, Tiger was leaving a football stadium in Mumbai after a game when two alleged gunmen opened fire at his vehicle. Seven rounds were reportedly fired, with five bullets striking the car. Tiger’s driver and another person sustained injuries.
The attackers allegedly escaped on a motorcycle that a third accomplice had arranged for their getaway. After the injured driver got out of the vehicle, Tiger reportedly took control of the car and drove him to Nanavati Hospital for treatment.
The incident caused panic in the area and prompted a response from senior political leaders in Maharashtra.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reportedly spoke to Tiger over the phone to check on his condition and assured him that strict action would be taken against those responsible, including the alleged mastermind behind the attack.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also visited the actor at his residence. Tiger was seen with bandages on his arms and a dressing on his chest.
The investigation into the shooting remains central to the case, while Vidyut’s comments have shifted part of the public conversation towards bystander responsibility and the role ordinary people can play when confronted with violence.
