Why Guddiyan Patole looks different from other Punjabi movies: The upcoming Punjabi movie gives the impression of being at variance from its contemporaries.
There is no hiding to the fact that the year 2018 saw Punjabi movies growing leaps and bounds in stature. In a piece written on the last day of 2018, we had highlighted some habits of Punjabi filmmakers which they should let go of in 2019. Among one of those habits were script writers writing run-of-the-mill female characters.
Only into the third month of 2019 and a significant refinement has been put forward in the name of ‘Guddiyan Patole‘. Slated to release on March 8, the movie undeniably gives the feeling that it has been committed to paper by keeping the female characters at par.
Therefore, if you expect the leading actresses of Guddiyan Patole solely playing the love interest of the male actor, dancing around the trees or just there to make the silver screen return gorgeousness, you might end up being disappointed for the actresses are highly likely to have much more to do in a Punjabi movie this time.
Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and written by Jagdeep Sidhu, the movie stars Sonam Bajwa, Gurnam Bhullar, Tania, Nirmal Rishi, Gurpreet Bhangu, Rupinder Roopi, Seema Kaushal, Gurmeet Saajan and others. Sonam Bajwa, who has been part of several blockbusters in the past, will appear on the celluloid for the ninth time in Punjab. Having said that, it will be the first time that she will be in a movie without a singer-turned-actor with a superstar status.

During an interview with Punjabi Mania while promoting Smeep Kang’s ‘Carry On Jatta 2‘ last year, a self-effacing Bajwa refused to take the credit for her previous blockbusters. “The film was never even on my shoulders,” Bajwa was quoted as saying back then.
Just over nine months down the line, Bajwa would be both determined and anxious for Guddiyan Patole doubtlessly lies on her shoulders. Despite the presence of senior actors in Rishi, Roopi, Bhangu and Kaushal, it is Bajwa who is most likely to allure the audiences towards the cinema halls on this Friday.
Tania, who made her debut in Jagdeep Sidhu’s ‘Qismat’ last year, will be seen playing the younger sister of Bajwa in the movie. It is evident from the trailer that her character hasn’t been put under the shadow of a more famous actress and that equal emphasis has been laid on her as well. With her one more interesting project coming later this month, she would be unequivocally looking forward to the upcoming weeks.
While extensive details about the movie will only be known after watching it in cinema halls tomorrow, one can still laud the effort of the makers to come up with such a project. For a movie which oozes newness, here is hoping that it ends becoming an example for others to follow and also wishing good luck to the whole team of Guddiyan Patole!
