Yaar Mera Titliaan Warga: The recently released Punjabi movie has finally managed to draw audiences towards cinema halls.

In our preview for a box-office clash on August 19 comprising of some leading names in the Punjabi film industry, we had put light on how Punjabi movies have just not worked at the box-office.

The whole peak summer season from mid-May to July had been destitute of an out-and-out box-office success in spite of some movies being genuinely good. This dearth of audiences inside cinema halls across the state was worrying and any celebrity denying the same was simply lying.

That being said, the most recently released Punjabi movie titled 'Yaar Mera Titliaan Warga' (directed by debutant Vikas Vashisht) has managed to turn the tables to provide a gargantuan sigh of relief to the whole industry.

Starring Gippy Grewal, Tanu Grewal, Karamjit Anmol, Raj Dhaliwal and Gurteg Singh in pivotal roles, a categorically comic flick on unfunny subjects encompassed of enough meat to allure viewers to the cinema halls. Not going to dwell much about the overseas collection of the movie, a Punjabi movie finally managing to work in Punjab provides serenity of the highest level.

Known for his unfazed tendency of going all guns blazing while promoting a movie, Gippy Grewal had managed to set the tone right from the word go in the build-up to the movie.

With the onus lying on the movie to be entertaining and it not disappointing upon its release on Friday, Yaar Mera Titliaan Warga was highly likely to do well at the box-office.

While advance bookings in the affirmative for evening shows on Friday had hinted at the movie registering an encouraging financial opening, Yaar Mera Titliaan Warga didn't let the initial advantage wither away by improving its numbers on Saturday and Sunday.

A fourth-highest Friday collection among Punjabi movies in 2022 was converted into a second-highest opening weekend (all India) for a Punjabi movie this year. Only behind Amarjit Singh Saron's 'Saunkan Saunkne', Yaar Mera Titliaan Warga not only survived at the box-office but ameliorated its box-office numbers unlike three other films which had a better Friday opening in Punjab earlier in the year.

A battle half won for now, Yaar Mera Titliaan Warga should ideally be able to sustain these numbers not just till the next Friday but throughout the next week amid intense competition to prove its mettle in real sense. Furthermore, it will also be interesting to see if this worthwhile start for Yaar Mera Titliaan Warga aids other upcoming Punjabi movies in terms of people showing a constant interest in visiting the theatres or not.
