Goraya Productions’ first short punjabi film GAWACHI PAGG (The Lost Turban), Directed by Navtej Sandhu & Produced by Dharam Singh Goraya has been officially selected for the prestigious “70th Cannes Film Festival” to be held in France from 17-28 May 2017 in the “Short Film Corner” category.
Based on the story written by the well known novelist Jaswant Singh Kanwal, GAWACHI PAGG, is beautifully shot in the deserted locations of mand area of Beas & around Amritsar. Cameraman Parminder Singh’s creative vision & well made background music by Anuj Chaturvedi goes very well with the story of the era of 80s’ when Punjab was burning in the dark black days of terrorism.
GAWACHI PAGG is an emotional story of a young sikh boy Manga Singh, played by Japtej Singh of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag fame, whose turban gets lost during the panicky situation somewhere inside the Golden Temple before the starting of the Operation Bluestar. Inspector Dilawar Singh, again wonderful act by the ace actor Ashish Duggal, gets hold of Manga in the deserted area of mand. Once order issued by the senior police officer (SP Vijay Sharma) to eliminate Manga in the police encounter, this 34 minutes highly charged drama unfolds with the emotions-importance of a PAGG (turban) for a sikh boy !! In short, this is all about “the lost honor” of sikh community through the emotions of a young sikh boy via symbolic GAWACHI PAGG (The Lost Turban) !!
After the classic milestone short films NOORAN & KAMBDI DEORRI screened @ Cannes, this is the 3rd film of Director Navtej Sandhu which has been selected for the top most “Cannes Film Festival”.
