Ekam: Son of Soil

Mandeep Benipal's (who earlier assisted Gaurav Trehan in 'Hashar') 'Ekam - Son of Soil' was another landmark movie in the Punjabi film industry. The movie stars Babbu Maan, Bhagwant Mann, Binnu Dhillon and others. It marks the debut of Mandy Takhar in the Punjabi industry. Written by Babbu Maan, the film covers several topics like a love story, family relations, family disputes and the prevailing social issues in Punjab. Ekamjeet (Maan) returns to Punjab from Australia upon his father's wish. His step-mother and step-brother do not accept him which continually reminds him of his mother. Meanwhile, he meets Navneet (Takhar), daughter of his father's business partner and corrupt MLA Iqbal Singh, and the duo fall in love with each other. It is his father's wish to see his family live in peace, which obviously seems a fat-fetched dream. Upon the death of his father, Ekamjeet starts to live in his ancestral village. Solving the prevailing issues of all the villagers becomes his topmost priority. But, this goes against the will of Iqbal Singh. Watch this film to know who wins the battle between Ekamjeet and Iqbal Singh and whether the love birds are united at the end or not.
