Citing the success of animated religious Punjabi movies at the box-office in the recent times, another project of the same genre is all in readiness to be made public on this Friday, i.e., August 24. Named ‘Guru Da Banda’, this movie is based on the life of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur.

At a tender age of 15, Banda Singh Bahadur left home in a bid to practice asceticism. He was given the name ‘Madho Das’ at that point in time. Born as Lachman Dev, it was Guru Gobind Singh who gave him the title ‘Banda Singh Bahadur’. He was a Sikh military commander who established a Sikh state with capital at Lohgarh (Haryana).

His first major action was the sacking of the Mughal provincial capital. After establishing his authority in, Banda Singh Bahadur abolished the zamindari system, and granted property rights to the tillers of the land.

Reciting a religious or a historic story in an animated manner comes in handy because animation is liked by all sections of the society. Children, per se, can be taught about our history in the best possible manner through an animation. Pritam Film Production Pvt. Ltd., the director’s own animation company based in Jalandhar, has worked on the animation in the movie.

Guru Da Banda is directed by Jassi Chana. The research, script, screenplay and dialogues have been written by Satnam Chana. In an interview with Punjabi Mania, Satnam Chana revealed that he aimed at making people aware about Punjab’s literature, culture and history. Param Agaaz has directed the music of the movie. However, the title song has been sung and musically directed by Daler Mehndi. The songs have been penned down by Rakesh Raman and Satnam Chana.

Guru Da Banda is produced by Joginder Singh Bhangalia and Sonu Bhangalia. The release of Mudassar Aziz’s ‘Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi’, Anil Sharma’s ‘Genius’ and Pawan Kumar Sharma’s ‘Karim Mohammed’ on the same day is not expected to affect the business of the Punjabi movie because of the latter’s contrasting genre and target audience.

Visit your cinema halls tomorrow or anytime during the upcoming week to learn more about Banda Singh Bahadur and witness how he fought bravely during his times. If you haven’t watched the trailer of the movie as yet, watch it below and tell us about your views in the comments section:
