3 reasons to watch ‘Chal Mera Putt 2’: Punjabi Mania present before your genuine reasons to watch the recently released Punjabi movie titled ‘Chal Mera Putt 2’.
The biggest challenge for a sequel of any movie is to surpass the expectations built due to the successful first part. Recently released Punjabi movie titled ‘Chal Mera Putt 2’ has been successful in achieving the same both critically and commercially.
The movie witnesses Amrinder Gill, Simi Chahal, Gurshabad, Hardeep Gill, Iftikhar Thakur, Nasir Chinyoti and Akram Udas continuing their pivotal roles from the first part. Four new additions to the franchise include Zafri Khan, Ruby Anum, Garry Sandhu and Nirmal Rishi.
Given the box-office numbers that the movie registered on its first two days in Punjab and overseas, it was on its way to become as affluent as ‘Chal Mera Putt’. However, the closure of cinema halls in Punjab halls due to the outbreak of a “pandemic” in COVID-19 has played nothing short of spoilsport for Chal Mera Putt 2.
With cinema halls still open in Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh and many overseas countries, here are three reasons as to why Chal Mera Putt 2 deserves to be watched.
3 reasons to watch ‘Chal Mera Putt 2’
Outright comic element
It would not be wrong to say that the second part of the franchise yields out the best from the actors involved especially when it comes to making the viewers convulse with laughter.
Starting from the dialogues written by Rakesh Dhawan to how well they are executed by the actors, Chal Mera Putt 2 seldom gives you a dull moment. A movie being funny is one thing and it being “continually” funny is totally different. Chal Mera Putt 2 falls in the second category.
What further adds to the jocularity of the movie is its underlying message regarding the protagonists. Irrespective of the circumstances, these struggling illegal immigrants always striving for joy makes you relish the same with them even as audiences.
Amrinder Gill and Simi Chahal’s platonic chemistry
Apart from the comic element, another facet of the movie which sees a revamp is the platonic chemistry between Amrinder Gill and Simi Chahal. With the latter doing better in life (financially) than her lover, it gives a novel angle to their love story – something which is a rarity in Punjabi movies.
In a lovable scene from the movie, Savvy (Simi Chahal) visits Jinder’s (Amrinder Gill) house after a grueling day at work. Jinder, who usually converts these visits into opportunities to run errands primarily because of Savvy’s car, isn’t allowed the same this time.
A line as simple as “Bas do minute behke gal kar le [Sit down and talk to me for two minutes]” by Savvy conveys much more (about real life as well) than perhaps it was meant to in the first place.
Considering the manner in which the two complement each other in Chal Mera Putt 2, the makers have sure missed an opportunity by not throwing more emphasis on their love story. That being said, whatever scenes Gill and Chahal have enacted together form one of the talking points of the movie.
Ruby Anum and Zafri Khan
In Ruby Anum (Saira) and Zafri Khan (Lawyer Bilal Randhawa), the ‘Chal Mera Putt’ franchise has received two more Pakistani actors who have created an affirmative impact from the word go.
Despite both of them having restricted roles, they make sure that they do much more than just making their presence felt.
Not undermining Khan’s work by any means, one has to admit that Ruby Anum did the heavy lifting in most of the comical sequences which happened after her introduction in the movie.
A tried and tested face in Pakistani dramas, Anum, not for a brief moment, did make one feel that she is making her debut on the celluloid. You can imagine her prowess from the fact that she emerged out as a domineering (yet hilarious) character without being affected by the existence of six other actors who were also present in the first part.
To conclude about the actress, it is safe to assume that Anum’s character in the movie has it in it to make the viewers search for videos of her dramas of the similar genre on YouTube.
