Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk was not the intended target of a shooting reported in Abbotsford following his concert, according to his family.
Ammy Virk’s father, Kuljit Singh, has dismissed reports suggesting that the singer came under fire after his performance at the Rogers Forum. Speaking to the media on Wednesday morning, Singh said the reports circulating about gunfire directed at his son were incorrect.
He clarified that neither Virk nor his vehicle was struck by a bullet and said the singer remained safe.
A relative who was travelling with Virk in Abbotsford has also rejected claims that the group was targeted. The family confirmed that Virk and his relatives are safe following the incident.
Police have confirmed that a shooting occurred after the Rogers Forum event. However, authorities have said no injuries were reported and have not identified the occupants of the vehicle involved.
The family’s comments mark the first direct response from Virk’s side regarding the reports linking him to the incident. Their account contradicts unverified reports that had suggested the singer was specifically targeted.
Authorities have yet to publicly establish who was involved in the shooting or whether the incident was connected to Virk’s concert.
