Ammy Virk, Binnu Dhillon starrer Bambukat took a Bumper opening In East Punjab thereby becoming one of the very few films to cross 1 crore nett on opening day in the circuit and had the 4th highest opening ever for a Punjabi film in the circuit and 3rd highest of the year surpassing Ardaas and Love Punjab and only behind 2 Diljit Dosanjh starrers Ambarsariya and Sardaarji 2. This feat achieved is commendable and deserves an applause. The collections are expected to rise in the coming 2 days because the film is being appreciated by the audiences all over the state and overseas as well.
Bambukat collected Rs. 1.38 crores gross in East Punjab region on Day 1. Bambukat had better collections than the Bollywood release Dishoom despite Bambukat mainly collecting from just Punjab cities where it was ahead and way ahead because it was behind in Gurgaon and Haryana but even those cities couldn’t help Dishoom to move ahead of Bambukat. The top 5 openings of Punjabi films in East Punjab for the year 2016 are as follows:
- Sardaarji 2 Rs. 2.05 Crores (June 24, 2016)
- Ambarsariya Rs. 1.60 Crores (March 25, 2016)
- Bambukat Rs. 1.38 Crores (July 29, 2016)
- Love Punjab Rs. 89 Lacs (March 11, 2016)
- Ardaas Rs. 59 Lacs (March 11, 2016)
Also the fact worth noting is that, earlier the Top 10 all time Openings were dominated by Diljit Dosanjh and Amrinder Gill with 7 and 3 in Top 10 respectively. Now with Ammy Virk joining the party and that too directly into the Top 5, this is something worth remembering for a long time. Also Gippy Grewal does not have any openings in Top 10 opening days of all time.
